Diapers For Babies

The history of diapers can be compared with the evolution cycle of man. They are generally cloth or wool based napkins that are designed to fit small bottoms. Though diapers are generally associated with tiny tots there are diapers that are designed for adults and pets as well.

There are a variety of diapers on the markets that are designed for new-born children and small toddlers. Diapers are generally used to toilet train your child in the early stages of his/her life.

If you go to see a baby needs a total of around 10- 12 diaper changes per day. There are diapers of various materials in the market. They are segregated into cloth based diapers and disposable ones. The cloth diapers are designed to sustain heavy washing and they can be reused a number of times. Disposable diapers are designed to provide comfort and a dry environment even when the napkin is fully saturated

While shopping for diapers you also got to look at the price tags so that you can choose a brand that suits your finances.

If you are going in for cloth diapers you may find them priced too high. The price of a cloth diaper is about $20; and with every baby requiring about 10-12 diaper changes per day the baby needs at least 10 to 20 diapers to avoid a load on the laundry. Cloth diapers have also changed a lot. The cloth used is treated so that it remains soft and it is easier to wash. They come in various colors and designs and are priced accordingly.

However if you go to see the price of a disposable diaper you will be happy and satisfied because the price of a disposable diaper is about $0.30; and with a baby requiring 10-12 diaper changes you are looking at spending $30 per day for diapers as compared to $400. In the early 1950's disposable diapers were common only with the rich as the price was too much, it was a few years later when the price of the diaper cam down so it was affordable to the common man. They have continued to improve every decade becoming lighter in weight, more absorbent and comfortable.

Cloth or disposable diapers:

Cloth diapers have evolved in the last few generations. Many changes have come about the design of the cloth diaper that has made them easier to use as disposable diapers.

Basically using cloth diapers is safe for your child as now day's disposable diapers are made using chemicals that are harmful to your child.

Use of cloth diapers reduces the risk of rash that is associated with disposable diapers. Apart from your baby, the environment also benefits from the use of cloth diapers. Basically this is because the diaper is being reused. The life span of a cloth diaper is about 80- 100 washes. If you talk about a disposable diaper, you cannot reuse it. As it is biodegradable this waste accumulates on the earth's surface causing various environmental problems. Also cost wise cloth diapers are cheaper than disposable diapers.
